Abbey Park Fireworks 2016 Event
Every year, 25,000 people arrive in the cold at Abbey Park in Leicester to witness the Midland’s biggest firework display, and for the last few years, we’ve been lucky enough to get the best seat in the house.
Each year, the event gets bigger and bigger, and this year was no exception. Local radio station GEM 106 supply a line-up of talent every year to entertain the crowd, and this year Cloud One were asked to supply a bigger lighting package, as well as sound to cover the entire display. Two hangs of 15 L’acoustics Dv-Dosc covered the main area in front of the stage, with ARCS II and a further stack of 6 Dv-Dosc taking care of the rest of the park. Live music came from local starlet Eleni C, as well as singer songwriter Josh Davis and Chris Smee. The City of Leicester’s excellent year for sport was also represented, with the league cup being lifted by local sporting legend Steve Walsh.
The lord mayor of Leicester was on hand to pull the trigger for the fireworks, with the help of X-Factor winner Sam Bailey. To control the crowds, Cloud One were asked to supply a MOJO barrier system around the main stage enclosure, as well as a specialist floor package to light a satellite stage in the middle of the park where fire performers Flame Oz delivered two dangerous displays.
