With such regular clients as the Ministry of Defence and the Royal British Legion, it's quite commonplace for Cloud One to be catering for royalty all year round, but this month we had the great pleasure of looking after not just one, but two VIP delegates across a series of events in the Midlands. HRHs The Duke of Cambridge and Princess Anne were present at both the opening of the new police memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum and a ceremony to mark the beginning of the new apprenticeship scheme at EEF Energy. For EEF energy, our fabrications team put in a custom black set with graphics and a curtain […] Continue Reading
In a very busy and poignant time for the NMA, Cloud One were once again brought in the cover the proceedings on Armistice Day. This was a very high profile event, as many senior military officials, not least HRH Prince Harry, were in attendance among around 8 thousand members of the public and invited guests. With security a top priority, we were asked to supply two self-sufficient systems which could be interlinked at will. Up at the Armed Forces Memorial, we erected staging for both the contributors and speakers at the event, and also the legions of press and camera operators. A modest PA system was in place to cover […] Continue Reading
Washington Green Fine Art brought Cloud One on board for this staggering launch from artist Lorenzo Quinn. Several Sculptures are currently on display in and around the Mailbox’s Castle Gallery and at the launch last week we supplied uplighting to the entire bottom floor.
2016 has been an internationally recognised year of mourning as the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme takes place. The NMA has been at the forefront of these such events, and Cloud One has happily provided AV for several of them.
Because of the intricacies of the work, close up cameras need to be utilised to relay the procedures onto a big screen for the 600 in attendance. There is also an array of videos and presentations which need to be shown throughout the various talks and seminars. With no rigging available in the venue (Aston University’s Great Hall), an entire floor package had to be brought in to light the models from every angle, but without blinding the makeup artists as they work.
In an end to the NMA’s 2016 season of Remembrance, Cloud One were brought in to supply sound and video for the huge annual ceremony. The whole site had to be covered, from the brand new visitors centre all the way up to the main Armed Forces Memorial in the middle of the site, upon the steps of which, the service took place. 2 of our smaller PA towers were erected at the base of the AFM, with 9 L’acoustics Dv-Dosc a side supplying audio to 8000 attendees on the main causeway.
Every year, 25,000 people arrive in the cold at Abbey Park in Leicester to witness the Midland’s biggest firework display, and for the last few years, we’ve been lucky enough to get the best seat in the house.
Cloud One enjoys a healthy relationship with several Midlands sports teams, and it was a pleasure this summer to once again work closely with Aston Villa at their stadium and training ground with some installations. Three installations took place for the club, with sound equipment being applied to several of their spaces across the two sites. At the Bodymoor Heath Training ground, we installed a new system for the press conference suite with lectern microphones being divided across a small house sound system and across twenty separate feeds for TV and radio stations and press. You can see the system in action in the video below as the Club welcomes […] Continue Reading
For another year, The National Memorial Arboretum played host to the final leg of the mighty Ride to the Wall, in which nearly 20,000 bikers riding to the site from all over the country (and some even as far afield as Belgium) in order to raise money and remember the fallen troops throughout military history.
Chaos landed in Birmingham City Centre at the start of October this year as over 800 Thompson’s Holiday reps from the last 30 years descended on the beautiful listed building that houses Digbeth’s Paragon Hotel.
For many years, Cloud One has enjoyed a healthy relationship with ISB, The Islamic Society of Britain, and this year was no exception. Our team went in at the start of week to erect a stage and a self-climbing ground support truss in the main arena of the festival, plus a number of break-out tents and stages in other locations across the East of England showground in time for thousands of worshippers to enjoy the spirituality.
For another year, Cloud One were chosen to supply lighting, rigging, sound, video and custom set for the world renowned bridal fashion house Enzoani. This year’s show spanned an entire weekend and saw twice the amount of models and audiences arrive at the Birmingham Council House Banqueting Suite.
In a historic move, Qatar Airways have brought their iconic new A380 jet liner to Birmingham International Airport, and to celebrate they threw a huge launch party in the Birmingham Council House Banqueting Suite.
It’s not abnormal for Cloud One to be in the company of VIP dignitaries, with royalty and politicians regularly attending our yearly calendar of events. This year we had the esteemed pleasure of providing lighting, sound and video for an audience with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar at the Ramgharia Conferencing Centre in the centre of Leicester.
Every year, thousands of folk lovers come to Uttoxeter Racecourse to enjoy The Acoustic Festival of Britain, which has been a successful folk and rock festival in the area for many, many years. This year, in a move to upgrade production, Cloud One were brought in to bring the sound and lighting into the 21st century. The huge purple tepee mainstage was supplied with a full L’acoustics DV-Dosc ground stacked system, and working alongside the local authorities (strict SPL limits were enforced) we made sure that all of the acts could be heard across the site. A pair of Yamaha M7 consoles were brought in for FOH and monitors, […] Continue Reading
